12-12-12 Wedding - West Seattle, WA

12-12-12 the date everyone was excited about! I had the honor in doing a Brides hair for her special day on this date. I had only met this Bride once before, at her trial run we did together months previous. I posted an ad on Craigslist to anyone who was in need of an onsite stylist for their special day and she contacted me within the first 24 hours. The trial run went great, but on the day of she decided to add more curls and softness to the updo - I'll put both so you can see the difference. The day of hair was beautiful! I'd have to say, one of my favorites!
The wedding was taken place at the Sanctuary At Admiral . It was AMAZING! I've seen my fair share of wedding locations and this one was truly amazing. I think I may be partial because I love Christmas so much,  they had the place decked in garlands, lights and holiday cheer.

The gorgeous bridal suite was huge - I could only get a picture of the bathroom, but how pretty is that?!

She had such a a great head of hair. Thank you Nancy for giving me the opportunity to do the hair on your special day.

Blonde to Brunette

There is nothing I love more than when somebody comes in wanting a complete style change, or what most people call a "make over". This could entail anything on any level of being drastic or not. Change is drastic for most people, and I personally think it's a great thing. Especially when it comes to your hairstyle. Color, the length of your hair cut, bangs, even switching your part can make a huge difference when it comes to your appearance.

This leads me to my next creation. This guest is one of my favorites! I've been cutting her hair for years. We've switched back and forth on lengths of her bob a few times and she's been a Blonde since the first time we've met. On her last visit she mentioned she wanted to be noticed as a Brunette, rather than a Blonde like her friends tell her she is.
I had just started doing color again and this made me so excited to give her a big change. She put all control into my hands and trusted me to come up with something that would compliment her.
I still wanted to keep that pretty gold tone to her hair and have some of those high lights peek through as the color faded - so  I decided on a warm dark honey brown. I was so pleased with the outcome. Her blue eyes popped and it gave her a fresh new look.
See for yourselves below :)

Thank you Kay for exciting my day!

Do you have a color you'd love to see yourself in? What better time then during the new year to do that!? Give yourself a fresh new look with the fresh new year!

First before & after haircut

Hooray for a busy day in the salon today! Nothing feels better than getting my hands back into work and doing some beautiful hair. I'm going to start documenting my haircuts because I am not only passionate about Wedding hair, but I love to cut and style hair as well. There is no better feeling than seeing a before and after picture of your work and seeing how different you can change someone's look with just an inch or so. Length, layering, shape, products, styling - each and everyone of those things makes such a big difference when it comes to your appearance, and I love being the one to help you achieve that look you want - and to be able to recreate it at home.

Here is a friend of mine (thanks Corah for being my first model;) she has a ton of beautiful hair. She likes to keep it long so we dusted her ends and gave her some shorter layering around her face and a lot more layers throughout the back.

Hansen Wedding - Temecula, CA

I'm so excited to share this wedding with everyone. The bride is one of my very best friends and the groom is an amazing guy, both great friends! The moment they got engaged I counted down to their wedding because I knew they would put on an amazing party. Boy, was I right!!

The Wedding was held at a beautiful winery in Temecula California,  at Keyways Winery. Luckily the bride and groom lived close enough to the venue that we were able to use their house as the girls place to get ready at. I forgot to mention that I was also a Bridesmaid in this wedding. The bride knew of past experiences I had before, as a stylist AND being in the wedding, so she respected my wishes as just to do her hair - and had two other friends who are hair dressers come in and help with the other bridesmaids hair. I really appreciated this. I felt as if I was a part of the wedding and not just the helper for the day :)

I put some temporary extensions in the brides hair the morning of the Wedding. We decided on a half up - half down look. Her length was plenty long so we just added them for extra fullness and volume. It turned out perfect!
The length, color, everything looked perfect on her! So romantic with a little sparkle in there as well.

For the reception we knew there was going to be plenty of dancing so after the ceremony we went into the bridal cottage and swpet everything back into a gorgeous updo.

Don't mind the truck in the back ;) but it's so great to have TWO seperate looks for your big day, and not to have to worry about messing with anything once it's up and out of your face.

such a beautiful, fun, romantic, lovely wedding! Congratulations to Jamie and Ken - thank you for letting me stand up with you on your special day, I was so thankful and grateful for the whole weekend, you guys are the best!! <3

Iverson Wedding - Mukilteo, WA

I love doing wedding hair - but I ABSOLUTELY love doing a friends hair for their special day. I've known this bride, and a couple of her bridesmaids since a young age - they are great friends of mine and my sisters. I was so pleased to have been able to be there to help everyone get ready for the big day.
The girls wanted to get ready at the hotel they were staying in down on the Mukilteo waterfront. The wedding was held at the beautiful Rose Hill Center on a sunny June afternoon.
For the brides hair, I added in a few rows of extensions to give her a little more fullness in the updo. Adding more hair also helps with holding the style better. She had this amazing vintage broach/clip that we set off to one side of her soft, curly and romantic updo. Inspiration came from this Lauren Conrad Picture:

I opted to keep the pieces pinned back on the sides. With a bride, and all the movement and hugging she will be doing throughout the evening, it's best to be aware of hair around the face that might get messed up and, in this brides case, blow in the wind and look funny in pictures, because her wedding was outside - i kept the softness but not as many curls hanging around the face.

I was also able to go 4 of the 6 bridesmaids. Below are the bride's nieces - they both had a ton of beautiful hair!

This has to be one of the prettiest bridal parties I've ever worked with - look at that group of girls!!
And one of the prettiest brides, ever!!!
Congrats to Nicole & Jarod. Thank you for letting me a part of  your special day, it was so much fun!

New Beginning!

Yesterday I did something I never really thought I'd have the courage to do. I left the salon I had been at for over 6 years to become my own boss and rent a station closer to home. It was a bit of a process to even consider but with the help and support from my friends, family and amazing boyfriend - I came to the conclusion that this is the best thing for me and did it. I'm excited to not only start in a new salon with new people but to experience doing hair in a completely different setting. I am in charge of building my clientele now and this has re-inspired me and refreshed my drive to go above and beyond. Not only do I do wedding hair but I also love to cut and style hair. My looks tend to lean towards Classic but whenever I get a fun and funky hair cut in there I can't wait to dive in and switch up the usual.

If you are ever interested in coming in to get your hair done I would LOVE to meet you and help create a look for you to do at home that makes you feel sexy and beautiful! Here is an easy way to set up any appointment with me. More types of services to come - I am still in training for color and want to be 100% ready for that.

Wood Wedding - Spokane, WA

Here is another wedding that I was a part of, more than just the stylist for the day I was also a Bridesmaid. This wedding took place in a beautiful outdoor setting in Spokane, WA in late August. It was hot, but everyone looked beautiful - especially the bride, Ashley. She had extensions done prior to the wedding in salon to add length and fullness, it made the world of a difference. Her style is earthy and bohemian so we decided on a sweet and simple wavy look with a loose braid blended in the style throughout the back below where her veil was placed. I also did all the Bridesmaids hair as well. Sunshine always = up-do's :)

This was the "second look" Ashley wanted to do for her dress change during the reception, but since her hair looked so beautiful down we decided to keep it as is.

Amanda's Wedding - Seattle, WA

This wedding party was easy and fun. It was one of my closest clients from the salon and her bridesmaids were great. They knew exactly what they wanted, which is nice to have a little direction sometimes. I added a full head of extensions into the bride, Amanda's hair. She already had a beautiful head of hair but we wanted it to look as full and voluptuous as we could. We called it 'Victoria's Secret Hair'

The Bride

Bridesmaid #1

Bridesmaid #2

Edmonds Wedding - Everett, WA

This was a large wedding party so they had myself and another family friend who did hair come in and help. I did a few of the bridesmaids, a flower girl and the Bride Alycia's hair. We added some temporary extensions to Alycia's hair to add fullness and to get as many curls as we could in her updo, she loves curls:)

I did the two girls to the right of the bride & 3rd in from the left.

Floyd Wedding - Madison Park, WA

This wedding party was such a blast to help get ready. My friend (hair partner) helped me on this wedding since there were so many bridesmaids, 7 to be exact. The wedding took place at the beautiful Seattle Tennis Club in Madison Park, Wa. It was one of those lucky July days where the sun decided to come out, and stay out!! Since it was so hot outside with a little bit of a breeze coming off the water, and the girls were wearing long gowns, we decided and up-do was the best decision on everyone, so they wouldn't have to worry about it the rest of the evening.
The Bride has beautiful thick blonde hair and wanted a neatly placed curled bun on the back. Between the highlights in her hair and the placement of the curls, it looked stunning!!

Pictured below are the bridesmaid hair I did - along with the brides hair.

Miller Wedding - Woodinville, WA

This has to be one of the most romantic, gorgeous and happy weddings I've been involved with. It was taken place at the bride's childhood home, an amazing backyard setup on a beautiful July evening.  I also had the privilege to be in this Bridal party as well, but this time I only did the Bride, Jenny's hair, along with my own. She had a team come in to do the rest of the bridesmaids, it felt nice to be able to focus on just the bride and not be in a rush to get everyone, and myself ready for the big day. Everyone's hair turned out great and Jenny looked gorgeous. We had done a couple trials and after realizing the dress was going to be the main focus, an amazing vintage inspired Luly Yang gown, we opted to do a more simple soft look. A softly curled pony tail swept to the side, accented by a hand made Luly Yang hair accessory with feathers and beads. Perfection!

This wedding is also featured on June Bug Wedding's blog. Check out more pictures below :

That's Me :)
My profile picture is also from this wedding.

Joseph Wedding - Las Vegas, NV

I had the privilege of being in this wedding. It was one of my first experiences of being in the wedding, as well as doing the bridal party hair, and what better setting than in Vegas!!

The Bride wanted something simple and romantic for her special day. We chose to put in extensions to add fullness and a little bit of length. (The extensions also help with holding curl throughout the night for those who have hair on the finer side.) With a little height in the front, she looked beautiful and effortless. I did the bridesmaids hair as well. A cute up-do to the side one on maid, since she had a hair piece to add. We kept it simple and down with curls for the other maid because she had beautiful hair to begin with. For myself I triple ironed my hair for a little wave. I didn't have much time to get ready so that was a quick and easy style. I wish I had closer pictures with more angles, but here is a glimpse of how everyones hair turned out.
